Kindergarten 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Monday 6 February

We are very excited to be welcoming our Kindergarten students to big school tomorrow morning, Monday 6 February from 9:15am until 2:30pm.

On arrival, please collect your child’s name tag from the front yellow gates on Wentworth Street and then walk your child to the basketball court where teachers will assist them to line up behind their assigned class / animal name.

Student collection will be from classrooms at 2.30pm using the map provided on the day.

Students are required to wear their full summer school uniform (including school hat and school bag) for their first week and bring food for recess, lunch and a fruit break. Students can wear their sports uniform from week 4 on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Tuesday 7 February – Friday 10 February - First Week of Kindergarten ( week 3 on the school calendar)

On Tuesday 7 February and Wednesday 8 February, parents are permitted to drop their child to the classroom between 8:15am and 8:45am. Collection will be from classrooms at 2:30pm.

On Thursday 9 February and Friday 10 February, parents will drop their child at the front yellow gates between 8:15am and 8:45am. Year 6 students will then escort them to their classrooms for inside play. Collection will be from classrooms at 2:30pm.

Please take note of the modified school times to support the transition of students on during their first week of school.

If you are collecting a sibling, they will be released at 2.45pm.

Monday 13 February – Friday 17 February

Parents will continue to drop their child at the front yellow gates between 8:15am and 8:45am. Year 6 students will then escort students to their classrooms for inside play. Collection will be at 2:45pm in line with the rest of the school.

Northwest Community Before School Care

If your child attends Northwest Community Before or After School Care, they will be walked from their classroom by one of the carers to the school hall.

MEET THE TEACHER

Our Kindergarten teachers are looking forward to getting to know the students in their class and meeting each child’s family. A ‘Meet the Teacher’ information session will be held on Wednesday 15 February from 8.15am to 8.45am. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to find out more about our school routines and the fabulous programs we offer our students.

CLASSES

At Riverbank Public School, we aim to provide a settled start to school and quickly foster a sense of belonging in our new Kindergarten students. On your child’s first day, they will become a member of a class group and get to know their Kindergarten teacher. To form classes, we will use information gathered during Kindergarten Transition and Best Start assessments. Please understand that the first couple of weeks of school will be viewed as a ‘holding time’ to allow your child to settle into school routines. If we see the need to make any changes to student class placement, we will contact parents to discuss the reasons for doing so. All decisions are based on providing the best learning environment for each student.

CLASS EQUIPMENT

Class equipment can be brought to school from Tuesday 7 February.

WELCOME LETTER

A welcome letter will be provided in each child's school bag on their first day, informing parents of their child's class name and teacher.

Your child’s first year at school is a significant milestone and we look forward to officially welcoming you and your child to Riverbank Public School.

One more sleep. We are very excited!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Brown and Ms Wing
